Accreditation Requirements

Steps to Professional membership

The predominant organisation which set standards for Kinesiology in Australia is the Australian Kinesiology Association (AKA).  This organisations set a standard for membership that allows recognition for rebates by some health funds and professional indemnity insurance. When you have been accredited by either of these organisations you will then be able to apply for membership with the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS) and other governing bodies for complimentary therapies.

For more information about accreditation please download the Create Your Reality 2007 Training Program

For accreditation purposes the courses are classified as A, B and C. A balance of course types is required to ensure that reasonable distributions of studies have been met by the associations that monitor Kinesiology. The categories are indicated on each course description.

Demonstrated proficiency assessment is required for all completed Kinesiology courses, before course hours can be recognised by the associations.

KEEPING UP TO DATE

To keep up to date with developments in Kinesiology and the requirements for being a professional Kinesiologist it is a good idea to become a member of the Australian Kinesiology Association (AKA). Student membership with the AKA costs $44 per year which entitles you to receive the ”In Touch” journal on a quarterly basis.

Equilibrium is a business that specialises in supplying books, charts, and a wide variety of support material for Kinesiologists.
