APPLIED PHYSIOLOGY
Richard Utt, founder and director of the International Institute of Applied Physiology, was literally “saved from certain death” by one of Dr Goodheart’s protégés, Dr Sheldon Deal (Refer to Kinesiology History). Despite a dramatic improvement in his health, he did not recover fully and set about to discover what might be the missing links in the then current muscle testing techniques. He first read extensively on nutrition, herbs, and kinesiology, learned Touch For Health and then became Dr Deal’s assistant for two and a half years. After he started his own professional practice, he continued to read extensively in Anatomy and Physiology, Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, and researched many new innovative kinesiological techniques. He had intuitive visions that lead him to creating a new Kinesiology modality.
These experiences, combined with his expertise in electrical technology and computer science, allowed him to see and understand the body’s electromagnetic circuitry in ways never conceived of before. Since then, Richard has created many new techniques, and even more importantly, tested them thoroughly before incorporating them into the new system he developed, called Applied Physiology (AP). A centrepiece of AP is a unique system of using acupoints and finger modes to ask electromagnetic/energetic “questions” about specific physiological and anatomical “stresses” called Formatting.
